Following the trail blazed by the South Beyond 6,000 (hike 40 peaks in Southern Apps taller than 6,000 feet) Georgia State Parks has created their own hiking challenge. The Canyon Climbers Club reserves membership for people who have hiked Georgia’s four canyons, Amicalola, Tallulah Gorge, Cloudland Canyon, and Providence Canyon.
To join the club and get the t-shirt (literally), you have to hike the one-mile trail to the top of Amicalola Falls, which climbs 729 feet in a series of 604 steps. Then you have to conquer the 600 steps on the Waterfall Trail to the base of Cloudland Canyon and back up again. You also have to hike from rim to rim of the Tallulah Gorge via a suspension bridge and another 650 steps, and finally you have to hike the Loop Trail of Providence Canyon with a side trip into Canyon 5.
