Discover the Charm of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia

Nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, famously known as “America’s First Spa,” offers stunning year-round scenery and a unique array of activities, no matter the season.

While Berkeley Springs guarantees a good time any day of the year, certain days are particularly special, thanks to a host of unique events almost every month.

As the mountains begin their vibrant display of colorful leaves, the 49th annual Apple Butter Festival takes place on October 12th and 13th. This festival transforms the park and downtown streets into a bustling hub with hundreds of booths featuring local artists, crafts, food, craft beer, music, and more. The star attraction is the spicy apple butter, made the old-fashioned way in bubbling kettles that you can stir yourself and take home to enjoy.

Later in October, the Berkeley Springs Studio Tour, a free, self-guided driving tour, offers a chance to explore local art during the height of the fall foliage on October 19th and 20th.

November brings the Festival of Light, Psychic and Healing Fair at the Morgan Arts Council’s Ice House on the 9th and 10th. December is the perfect time to explore galleries and shops for holiday treasures, and enjoy events like the cocoa crawl, parade, and European Christmas Village.

From January through March, the Winter Festival of the Waters celebrates spa wellness, the International Water Tasting, and George Washington’s history, providing a rich blend of relaxation and culture.

We are also dedicated to outdoor fun and country calmness. There are two rivers, a pair of mountain ranges, miles of hiking trails, hunting, and fishing locales and lots of peace and quiet. Cacapon Resort State Park offers an 18-hole golf course designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, a lake with a beach, fishing, and wobble clay shooting. Test your bike against challenging single-track paths with mountain switchbacks and varied terrains. You can also ride on paved roads throughout the park. Horseback riding is available at the park or Good Luck Stables. Midway Bowling offers 14 lanes of 10-pin bowling with cosmic bowling on weekends plus video games and snack bar.

Berkeley Springs is a historic town that shines year-round, with a particular charm in the fall and winter. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, adventure, or cultural experiences, this enchanting town has something special to offer every visitor.
