Weekend Pick: Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Expo

The 5th Annual Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Expo is this coming weekend, December 6th-7th. It takes place in Asheville, North Carolina at the Agricultural Center. Tickets are $15 for adults and kids under 16 get in free. The event kicks off on Friday from 2:00-9:00pm and again on Saturday from 9:00am until 4:00pm.

This will cover any and all things fly fishing. There will be opportunities to buy the latest gear, watch fly tying demos, and listen to experts like Scott Davis, Paul Bourcq, Jim Casada, Blane Chocklett and Brad Bohen. These speakers will cover subjects such as saltwater casts, low country redfishing, improving strategies, and casting essentials. Be sure to check the complete schedule so you don’t miss a minute of the fun. There will also be few programs for kids, so do bring them along if they’re fly fishers in the making.

The Southeastern Council of the International Federation of Fly Fishers is proud to sponsor the 3,200 square foot casting pond. Their goal is to support fisheries conservation and educational programs for all fish and waters.

This year, there are over 50 exhibitors from manufacturers to fly shops and organizations to guides and magazines. There will be free parking and a hotel discount for those traveling from out of town.
