Nestled in the mountains of western Pennsylvania is the town of Ohiopyle. It’s a diamond in the rough no doubt, home to a year round population of just 60 people. But in the summertime, rafters, kayakers, and partiers from near and far flock to the rolling hills and scenic countryside that surrounds Ohiopyle for one of the classic whitewater runs on the East – the Youghiogheny River. With the lower class II-III section flowing right through the heart of town and the upper class IV-V stretch just a short drive away, Ohiopyle is a paddling hub. The town also hosts an annual Falls Race over the Youghiogheny Falls, also located right downtown.
What’s even better than spending the day out on the water? Coming into the Falls City Pub and Restaurant to dance the night away to the local band, Fern Cliff Collective.
Beers and boats. How can you go wrong?
