In this month’s issue of the magazine, our travel editor heads to the mountains of West Virginia to find a little slice of surfing paradise that’s far from tropical. Even in early April with sunny skies and temps in the mid-50s, the frigid waters of the Gauley require surfers to wear thick wetsuits or dry suits to stay warm. Check out her article on the West Virginia river surfing movement that’s taking place in Fayetteville, W.Va., here after watching some of the local surfers shred Diagonal Ledges on the Lower Gauley River.
