This week we’re taking a look at people who have figured out a way to drop off the sedentary grid that most Americans call every day life. First up is the Works family, who, in 2011, decided to put traditional life on hold, trade their giant suburban home for a 1337 Airstream, and live on the road between National Parks.
“When we first started out, we were going at a pretty quick pace, from destination to destination,” said Jessa Works, formerly a graphic designer and Kansas resident. “But we weren’t really absorbing as much as we could so we made it a point to kind of slow down.”
Jessa and her husband Josh, who also hails from Kansas and works remotely as a web developer, have been raising their young son Jack on the road. So far their journey has encompassed 97,184 road miles through 47 states and has taken them to 26 National Parks. They say Jack’s creativity has flourished as a result.
