This month, we are celebrating the National Park Service’s centennial in print and paying homage to the national parks within the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, but there’s more to honoring these parks than simply taking a hike. Philanthropy played a huge part in the National Park Service’s history, and as invasive species, diminishing government funds, and air and water quality issues continue to threaten our public lands, philanthropy is arguably more important now than ever.
