Pit Stops: October

We want to hang out! That’s part of the reason why we hit the road in the first place. Check back on our blog and social media handles regularly for updates on when and where we’ll be near you, but in the meantime, browse through our October schedule for event presences and meet-ups this month.

October 6th: 5 Point Film Festival, Van Life Rally, French Broad Litter Floatilla:

It just seems like everything is happening in Asheville these days. 5 Point Film Festival is back to capture the hearts and souls of viewers through inspiring cinematography, tear jerking stories, and community involvement. Check the calendar of events for a long list of activities taking place around Asheville on their page. Make sure to be at the Hominy Creek put in on the French Broad River on Thursday at 2:45pm for an Eagle Nest Outfitters and Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine sponsored river cleanup. Afterwards from 4 to 10 pm look for us at the Salvage Station for a van life rally so great you’ll sell your house and move into a van. Good people, cool stories, and amazing adventuremobiles will surely make for an awesome night.

October 7th-9th: The Festy Experience

I don’t know if you’ve seen the line-up this year, but come on, how could you not be here? The weekend will be jam packed with things to do, music to hear, and beer to drink. Saturday morning of the festival Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine will be hosting the 21st annual Blue Ridge Burn, a 5K and 10K trail running race. The festival is held in Nelson County, Va., surrounded by the magnificent Blue Ridge Mountains. Our partner brand and friends with IceMule Coolers are supplying a handful of their awesome adventure coolers to serve as mobile beer vendors during the festival. We’ll be giving away the coolers at the end of the event, so stay tuned on more information on how you can win one of these bad boys for yourself!

October 13th: Group Mountain Bike Ride with Roanoke Mountain Adventures

If you haven’t been to Roanoke in a few years, get ready. A lot has changed. Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine is teaming up with Roanoke Mountain Adventures for a group mountain bike ride on Thursday the 13th of October. We’ll leave from RMA’s location on Wasena Ave., climb up Mill Mountain, and bomb back down to town. This is going to be totally radical! Rentals are available for those without bikes at a 30 percent discount (so no excuses).

October 14th-16th: Roanoke Go Outside Festival

Experience an epic weekend of demos, giveaways, and good times at Roanoke’s Go Outside Festival. There will be over 125 outdoor activities and events to be apart of. We’ll be doing huge giveaways from our sponsors, Crazy Creek, Farm to Feet, La Sportiva, Mountain House, Delorme, IceMule, ENO, and LifeStraw. Don’t miss out! This is a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday event. The location is beautifully placed right at the base of Mill Mountain and fall is in the air. Come celebrate with us!
