Bikini Ski Season

It happens every year. In March, temperatures hit the 60s and everyone forgets that there’s still snow at the Ski resorts. Good snow. Some of the Southeast’s best storms hit in March. More importantly, some of the best ski resort parties hit in March. The “end of the season” bash is a perennial favorite for locals and ski bums who want to transition to Spring in style. In the Rockies, the most famous ski bash is Copper’s “Eenie Weenie Bikini Competition” which pits bikini-clad ski bunnies against each other in classic misogynistic downhill style. Here below the Mason Dixon, we have a little more class. Snowshoe Mountain has a Pond Skimming Contest, complete with a beachwear competition. Timberline Resort has the Snowy Luau–pig roast, bonfire, Hawaiian costume parade, fireworks. Wisp has a killer cardboard box derby, and Appalachian Ski Mountain has the Meltdown Games–a full weekend of derbies, terrain park competitions, big air extravaganzas, and pond skimming throw downs.

This isn’t the end of the ski season. This is the beginning of bikini ski season.
