Morganton, North Carolina, sits in the center of Burke County not far from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National Forest. The town itself houses art galleries, studios, and historic landmarks, along with craft breweries, small batch distilleries, and local wineries.
Just outside town, public lands are bountiful and include small local parks like Catawba Meadows and Steele Creek, as well as larger, more remote areas like Lake James and South Mountain State Park. Travel a little further west into and you’ll find the even more remote Linville Gorge Wilderness portion of the Pisgah National Forest.
Did you know? Morganton offers ample opportunity for mountain bike adventures. If heading to the area in search of single track, check out Back Creek, South Mountain Loop, Table Rock Loop, or Yancey Ridge.
