Doubt

“I told you that I’d like to qualify for the Boston Marathon.  You told me I could do it.  Your words were ringing in my ears during my race and I’m here to tell you that I QUALIFIED for Boston!  I’m so happy, Dane.  This is a dream come true for me.  I lost my dear sister Peggy in late September and her loving, fun spirit inspired me too!”

Were there other factors at play helping both these runners achieve things previously thought to be out of their control other than overcoming doubt? Absolutely.  Was removing that nagging feeling of “can’t” from their psyche a huge positive step in the right direction?  No question at all.

With so many differing factors conspiring against you as you go from a standstill to hopefully finishing standing up, do what you can to remove one of those by never letting doubt take roost.
