“Standup paddleboards are perfect for yoga. They’re like floating yoga mats,” says Jessica Ewart, a Chattanooga-based yogi who teaches SUP Yoga at the Big Ridge Marina on the Tennessee River. “The boards are actually very stable, but the buoyancy of the water throws off your balance and makes some poses really challenging.”
While the water adds an element of difficulty, it also adds an element of fun. “You will fall, but it won’t hurt,” Ewart says. “It’s actually nice, particularly on a hot summer day.”
