Forest recreation reduces the production of cortisol and other stress hormones in visitors’ brains and increases the number of immune cells in their bodies, according to the Finnish Forest Research Institute. They also promote human health by encouraging recreational activities, providing clean water, and regulating the spread of infectious diseases.
