Down with Diesel

The Golden State is trying to clean up its dirty air by slashing diesel emissions from trucks. The state Air Resources Board voted unanimously last week to have old smog-belching rigs replaced or retrofitted by 2011, citing the health of state residents as the reason for the change. In a story in the Los Angeles Times Chairman Mary Nichols said the regulation will save more than 9,000 lives.
