Help Wanted: New Outdoor Industry Job Board Launches in North Carolina

This month the Outdoor Gear Builders of WNC (OGB) announced the launch of their new WNC Outdoor Industry Job Board. The goal of the site is to help regional companies in the outdoor industry connect with qualified potential employees.

“We know that finding qualified applicants is a challenge for our members,” states Laurel Scherer, OGB board chair. “Our hope is that with this job board, we will help make it easier for our members and outdoor industry job-seekers to connect.”

The Outdoor Gear Builders of WNC combine a group of regional companies that collaborate to share talents, encourage new ideas, and inspire each other while supporting networking and resources to its members. According to OGB, over 60 of their member businesses and organizations provide more than 760 jobs region-wide, along with over $8 million in local sourcing of materials and contracts in the region.

“The new OGB job board provides opportunities for businesses and individuals to match skills and talent to positions to grow the outdoor economy of Western NC,” OGB stated in a press release. “Free to all job seekers, the platform is a great way for outdoor businesses to connect with potential employees and vice versa.”

Made possible by the funding of the Appalachian Regional Commission’s POWER Grant, the job board currently lives on the OGB website. Members can post unlimited job listings while non-OGB members with outdoor-focused businesses in WNC can post an open position by either joining the OGB of WNC or submitting an inquiry for a paid listing.
