North Carolina Gear Company Partners with Make-A-Wish to Provide Youth Camping Trips

Last month, SylvanSport, a Brevard, N.C.,-based company that makes innovative camping trailers and rooftop tents, announced a new partnership with Make-A-Wish Central & Western North Carolina (MAWCWNC). The gear company’s goal is to give children with critical illnesses the chance to go on an adventure with a pop-up camper equipped with the SylvanSport GO camping trailer.

“Make-A-Wish embodies our purpose of delivering joyful experiences that have the power to change lives,” said Tom Dempsey, founder, and CEO of SylvanSport. “We are solidly proud to partner with this outstanding organization.”

The partnership was launched back in September, after the first recipient, Annie, a nine-year-old who suffers from congenital heart disease, brought SylvanSport to the attention of MAWCWNC staff. The young girl wanted to go camping at the beach with her family in a GO camping trailer, so MAWCWNC and SylvanSport teamed up to make her dream come true.

Since its founding back in 1985, MAWCWNC has granted over 5,500 wishes, and, in the past few years, the organization has noticed a dramatic increase in wishes involving outdoor experiences.

“We are thrilled to partner with SylvanSport and welcome them into the Make-A-Wish Central and Western North Carolina family,” said Kathy Jetton, CEO of MAWCWNC. “We remain grateful for their commitment to helping us fulfill wishes for children with critical conditions and look forward to teaming up to grant hope to youth who need it.”
