The National Mall has been turned into a Solar Village. Twenty colleges and universities are currently competing in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon, a competition to “design, build, and operate the most attractive and energy-efficient solar-powered house.” Regional schools in the running include Virginia Tech, University of Kentucky, and Penn State University.
