River Rundown

Paddle all 340 miles of the James River in one day? Sure, with a little help from your friends. The James River Association is launching the inaugural Runoff Rundown, a collective attempt to paddle the entire James River from its headwaters at Iron Gate to its mouth in the Chesapeake Bay on July 12th.

The paddle-palooza is designed to raise awareness of the various pollution problems that plague the James while raising funds to help mitigate those problems. The James flows across the entire state of Virginia and has a watershed of 10,000 square miles. One third of all Virginians live inside the James River Watershed, which means one third of all Virginians pollute the James whether they want to or not.

Paddle a portion of the river yourself or donate to the James River Association to keep our “Founding River” clean.
