According to the Department of Environment Conservation (DEC), watchable wildlife is the fastest growing segment for family travel. In collaboration with the DEC, New York State, which ranks fifth in the U.S. for watchable wildlife participants, is introducing a new program in response to the growing trend. The New York State Watchable Wildlife program informs outdoor participants about how and where to safely view local species like black bears, bald eagles, moose, river otters, and an array of birds. Additionally, non-profits like the Nature Conservancy and Audubon Society have partnered with the DEC to provide guided tours, excursions and educational workshop.
Most states in the U.S. have their own watchable wildlife programs. Check out your state’s to find out where the best place are to view some regional wildlife!
