The new Olloclip lens accessory for smartphones and tablets is taking the digital photography world somewhat by storm. The lenses are sleek and well made, easy to implement and use, and come with functional lens covers and mini lens-cleaning cases. And for the hundreds of thousands of photographers who utilize iPhones and other smartphones on a daily basis — you’ve now got a high-quality option to up, or at least change, your game. From macro to wide angle to fisheye, options exist for almost every device and every photographic purpose. Explore the intuitive Olloclip website for all the details.
To thoroughly test the Olloclip, we took 4-in-1 iPhone Lens to Squamish, British Columbia, for some climbing and gear testing with LaSportiva, Gore-Tex and Altus Mountain Guides. The Olloclip held up as well as the new Gore technology debuting this spring…although unlike the shoes, we did try to keep it out of the mud.
To help introduce the Olloclip to the outdoor-photography world, the company had a fine-art photo exhibit hailed as the smallest show in the world, in Huntington Beach, Calif., during the U.S. Open of Surfing in July. Check out the video featuring our friend, action-sports photographer Chris Burkard.
