French Broad River Paddle Trail development
Seven access points and campsites are being planned along a 117-mile stretch of the French Broad River from its headwaters to the Tennessee border by the Western North Carolina Alliance. Currently, accessing the French Broad through that stretch is spotty, and campsites are almost non-existent, making an overnight or multi-day paddle difficult. Construction of the first campsite has already begun, allowing boaters to paddle a two-three day trip around Asheville. Look for the grand opening of the entire paddle trail and a new map of the river in June 2012.
