Q & A: Russ Anderson

Russ Anderson at the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail

What do you hope to accomplish with this hike?
I want people to understand that you’re never too old to exercise and be healthy and find adventure. If any good comes out of this, it’s that somebody else my age will try to hike this trail. I’ve already taken a few friends for short hikes. They probably won’t try to thru-hike the A.T., but a couple might become backpackers. And backpacking at any age is a good thing. No matter how old you are, your life isn’t over.
